Rankins, Michael
My life with comics: I read my first superhero comic book, Fantastic Four Annual #3, when I was five years old. I read Marvel avidly, and DC furtively, from 1967 until I graduated from college in 1984. My collection focuses on commissioned art rather than published pages, because I'm egocentric enough to find it wicked cool that professional artists will draw stuff just for me. My signature theme, Common Elements, features scenarios pairing unrelated comics heroes and heroines who share some quality (often obscure) in... well... common. My Bombshells! theme showcases Golden Age superheroines in vintage bomber nose art-styled pinups. You can read my slavering blather about my art collection every Friday on my weblog, SwanShadow Thinks Out Loud: http://swanshadowblog.com/
