Description

Was great to meet Bob Wiacek, inker on some of my favorite artists. Maybe the best inker Paul Smith ever had (except for Paul himself, and maybe Terry Austin), also Simonson's best non-Simonson inker. In getting him to sign some Essential X-Men books, he commented that these were the first copies of these books he'd ever signed, which I found surprising. He also said I didn't win a prize or anything, which I found disappointing :). But he then mentioned that the colorist for the cover was sitting right there, so Tom Smith signed my book as well. Smith then pulled out his portfolio and showed that work, and talked about getting to color tons of great stuff with Marvel reprinting many great works from it's glorious past. "Would you like to color Jack Kirby's cover to Hulk #1?" "Yeah!!!" Looks really nice too. It wasn't until later that I realized that the Tom Smith I'd just met is the Tom Smith 20 Year Veteran Professional Colorist who posts daily here on CAF! Well, at least I (and anybody who looks at this) now have a face to put to the name!
