Description

These promo pieces were done to promote the series. Gibbons drew each of the main characters-- Ozymandius, the Comedian, Rorschach, etc..

This was exciting to see up for auction and I was even more excited when I got this for about half what I was willing to pay. This is one of the rare occasions when I felt I got something I wanted for a lower than expected price.

I would love to find the Comedian and Rorschach drawings for this.

Not that it would ever happen, but I'd take a vintage image like this over one of the series covers any day. I've never seen this image before, but it's great!

If I didn't have my hands full with cooking at auction end this would have cost you more. ;o) Fantastic example, Joe.

Also...with the overlay, I think this looks better than most of the covers. I'd take the promo poster art (like this one) over any of the covers except #1.

The "wall of screens" seemed so advanced back in '86, didn't it? Today I'm pretty sure you could get yourself a setup like that from Costco for less than this piece of bristol board cost you.*

*and the screens would be HD, too

Not much to add on the piece as it is fabulous. As for the price, how nice is it to have that experience of getting something for considerably less than you were willing to pay for it. A rare event. Congratulations!

I once held the Rorschach one in my hands and decided not to buy it for the princely sum of $1200 because I liked the Comedian one better and would wait for it. In my defense, that was 25 years ago...
