Especially in the first season, the TWD television adaptation was kinda/sorta faithful to its comic book forbearer, so when Rick Grimes finds his wife and son, Lori and Carl, it is a poignant, tension-relieving moment in both formats of the saga. Tony Moore captures the scene in all its schmaltzy glory: A group of angst-addled survivors, startled out of a moment of complacency, not to have to retreat from the flesh-eating corpses that have become their new world, but to witness a family reunion. In a story that lets you know from the start, nothing will be sacred, this small vacation from violence is the perfect antithesis to the gore, pain, and loss that has become the American landscape in The Walking Dead.

It could be said that Tony Moore's character designs are reminiscent of Golden Age artist, C.C. Beck. They bear a simplistic, near-cartoonish quality that, when juxtaposed with great attention to detail on backgrounds and gruesome zombies, allows the humanity of his living compositions to stand out in comparison. Moore's aesthetic is at home with many of the titles he has contributed to, with the Walking Dead, it seems to suit the genre perfectly. Art from this series is not rare to find, but pivotal moments and early pages are truly scarce, and a sight to behold. As noted previously, this illustration up for auction is a memorable scene for fans of both the comics and the television series.

The winner of this lot will hold a keen memory in their collection that will be instantly recognizable beyond the comic art hobby. It is a part of the pop-cultural lexicon and begs one to call out with a long southern drawl, "Lawry and Coral, I'm doin' stuff, thangs!"
