Description

Kirk Jarvinen is an Oregon-based artist who drew Aquaman & Green Lantern Corps for DC, and What If, X-Factor, Avengers, Thor, New Mutants, and X-Men for Marvel Comics during the early to mid-1990s.
I took note of a short Ben Grimm/Franklin Richards backup story and FF pin-up that Kirk drew in Fantastic Four Annual # 25 (1992). On the basis of Kirk's obvious ability to draw a really cool looking Thing, I approached him about drawing a commission for my Marvel Two-In-One gallery.
To my great delight, Kirk was highly enthusiastic about every aspect of this commission. He picked the MTIO issue that he wanted to draw (# 19, Thing and Tigra vs the Cougar - a very good choice) and went to great pains to add everything AND the kitchen sink from that book into this drawing.
This piece is approx. 11 x 17. Every line on the page is drawn by hand, including the title logos, word balloon text, and corner box figures.
There are two versions of this art: the black and white inked page and a copy that was hand colored. Both versions are on display in my CAF gallery.
This cover re-interpretation arrived in early June 2006, having been started just two months earlier. Kirk was incredibly good about emailing with updates about the progress of his work. The quality of the finished work could not have been any better.
I had a superb experience dealing with Kirk Jarvinen and encourage others to contact him about his artistic services c/o his official website: kirkjarvinen.blogspot.com
