DescriptionBought the original Michael Turner pencils in 2008 and hoped to get a great inked blue-line version by inker Jason Gorder who's often inked Turner before. Unfortunately he scammed me. Art fans; BEWARE!Many people have been in contact with me, offering to ink me a version of this cover -either for free or a symbolic fee- and as grateful as I am to these generous offers I'm afraid I am going to decline because I didn't merely just want it inked. You see, there is a story behind all this, which makes this backstabbing Jason did all the more brutal. I was, prior to Michael's passing, on his commission list. I've always been a fan of Michael's and though his line-art was impeccable I've always preferred inked comic art -that goes for all comic art; it just looks more finished to me. At a convention I got to talking with Jason (who at the time worked at Aspen Comics) and I asked if he would like to ink a blue-line copy of the commission once it was finished. I figured that since he was a good inker, familiar with Michael's lines, his friend and with Aspen he'd be the perfect candidate. Jason was really thrilled at this offering because he rarely got to ink Michael's art anymore and this was an offer he just didn't want to pass up on. Then, when Michael passed, I felt like I was kind of 'letting Jason down' by not being able to fulfill the agreement as the commission never was started. However, I still wanted a piece from Michael to remember him by so I bought this cover, and in order to honor my agreement with Jason I decided to ask him if he wanted to ink this instead (and it would be a perfect way for him of saying 'farewell' to Michael professionally, as well). So, essentially it was merely a courtesy thing I did, asking Jason to ink this for me, and he just threw it in my face. That hurts more than anything. Social/Sharing

Well, what to say, I know what you're going through. There are (SADLY) a lot more "artists" like that. I hope you gonna have your piece / refund very soon. He established a name in the comic bizz and he should definately act at least a bit professional. Good luck buddy. Posted on 3/7/2010 |

Are you serious?! You still haven't gotten this? Didn't you pay him almost a year ago? That is so messed up. I really hate hearing about people paying for things they never get and then get lied to. I remember when you got the original you were so excited to have Jason Gorder ink a blue line for you. This is just ridiculous. What a joke. From now on I will never consider Jason Gorder to ink anything for me. What a seriously wrong thing to do to a dedicated Michael Turner fan. I really hope you get your money back, Simon. Spend it on someone who's reliable and true to their word when they say "it's done" and "it has been mailed out." If he thinks just ignoring you will make you go away, he's completely wrong. Better make a trip to the bank because Convention Season is now open, Jason. Posted on 3/8/2010 |

I'll give it a try, Enrico, but as this was a transaction directly between Jason and me -no reps or second parties involved- I'm not going to expect much. Thanks, though. Oh, I have, Bob. He's not accepted my request (made in July'09) but I've sent him numerous messages. Not a single one's been replied to. Heck, I've even tried calling him but all I get is his voicemail. I'm sorry to hear about this, but I'm glad we have CAF so that you can spread your story and warn others before they're taken advantage of like you were. Perhaps some of this bad publicity will get back to him and he'll send you your piece. Posted on 3/9/2010 |

Wow dude! That seriously sucks, cause that is a truly awesome Turner piece. I know how you feel,I lost some Stephen Hughes art under similar circumstances. Hopefully you can get it back someday. Posted on 3/9/2010 |

Hey send me the blueline and I'll ink it for you. I'll do it for 50 bucks. One condition, I want to use a copy for my portfolio. You can see some of my inks over pros at my Deviantart gallery here.http://justice41.deviantart.com/gallery/ Don't mind the sexy stuff there. Just ask Claudia Ohm if I'm good for it. She bought a Randy Green Tomb Raider piece from me and got two for the price of one. Ha. I miss that Louis Small Witchblade page. Sniff. contact me here. justice4one@comcast.net I want to be like john byrne. If ya know whatta mean. Posted on 3/9/2010 |

Sorry for what appears to be your loss but this kind of thing just seems to be more and more common these days. CAF should have a Wall of Shame or something to notify fellow collectors which artists to be leery of when dazzled by only the talent. Posted on 3/9/2010 |

This is a great opportunity for lesser known but just as good artists to step up and prove yourselves. On the other hand it sucks to get ripped off from a supposed professional. Maybe there should be contract signings done when an artist takes on a commission... Posted on 5/11/2010 |

This sort of thing is not professional and way out of line. Sorry to hear. Best thing you can do is find him and confront him face to face...I agree caf should have a 'wall of shame' section or something similar. Posted on 5/11/2010 |

Sorry to hear it.. I have been going through the same thing with a comission I paid for in full 2 years a go and haven't seen jack.. Not a scan or anything.. The artist refuses to take a photo with their camera phone of it to see something has been done. It makes it hard given they live in America and I live in Australia. I have actually been contemplating reporting them to the FBI through the American embassy here in Australia. I have all records of payment and email communications as evidence. I can't believe how un-professional some of these people are. Posted on 5/14/2010 |
