Description

"In the year 1987, NASA launched the last of America's deep space probes. Aboard this compact starship, a lone astronaut; Captain William "Buck" Rogers was to experience cosmic forces beyond all comprehension. In a freak mishap, his life-support systems were frozen by temperatures beyond imagination. Ranger 3 was blown out of its planned trajectory into an orbit a thousand times more vast - an orbit that was to return Buck Rogers to Earth - not in 5 months - but in 500 years."

This is the Original Cover Artwork for BUCK ROGERS IN THE 25th CENTURY #2 (Aug. 1979), painted by Mel Crawford. This issue is Part 1 (of 3) of Gold Key's adaptation of the "Buck Rogers" Pilot Movie which played in theatres across the U.S. and Canada six months prior to the premiere of the TV series. "Buck Rogers" aired for two seasons on NBC (1979-1981) with a total of 37 episodes produced. "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century: The Complete Epic Series" was released on DVD in 2004. NOTE: Buck Rogers #1 (Oct. 1964) was a one-shot--15 years later, Gold Key continued the numbering for the ongoing Buck Rogers comic book. The comic book lasted for 16 issues but due to an editorial mishap issue #10 was never published and the number was skipped over.

Buck Rogers - created by Philip Francis Nowlan; developed for television by Glen A. Larson and Leslie Stevens.

BUCK ROGERS IN THE 25th CENTURY is copyright (c) & trademark NBC / Universal; licensed to Gold Key Comics.
