Description

This has always been my favorite cover from the DOS storyline and I lucked out and had the honor of meeting and purchasing it from Tom Grummett. I remember this iconic image so vividly as it was published all over the place from this cover to pages in the story, cards, multiple ads, etc. Tom told me this cover originally was to be right side up but everyone thought Superman looked more dead upside down. I love it either way so decided to post it both ways as it's my favorite piece! I included some additional published images which are pretty cool as some of them show the redline while others show shading. Happy Viewing!

DC: Where Legends Live!!! People can say what they want about this story arc, but I thought it was one of the most ambitious and special projects that DC ever attempted. From his death to his return, the women and men who worked on this story put a lot of love, care, and effort into it. And this iconic cover really captures the epic feel of this story. You are very fortunate to own this piece. I really appreciate you for sharing this wonderful cover with us.

Wow. What an iconic piece of Superman history! I remember being in grade school when the Death of Superman happened. I'll never forget being on the playground when another student brought in the actual issue. The image of Superman's torn cape in the wind stuck with me and began my love of comics. This wonderful image was a wonderful follow-up. Please contact me if you ever decide to part with it.

Great cover from a great series. Grummett's story about Superman looking more "dead" upside down is one of those gems that only the creators can provide. And by looking at the various accompanying photos that you've posted, you can see that it is true. Congratulations on owning a terrific piece from the Death of Superman series, I know that you have been interested in a piece like this for quite some time and I am very happy that you finally acquired your grail.

SUPER!! One of my all time favorite Superman covers. Tom Grummett is hugely underated as one of the newer greats in my book. I always wished he had also drawn the Power of Shazam/ Capt.Marvel. After Jerry was off the series, instead of cancelling it. Congrads!

Totally agree! Some say it fueled the downturn in the market of the 90's but I don't see how anyone can blame this 1 event when there were so many other events going on at the same time. Out of everything that was made during the 90's this is my favorite story as a kid and now. It's so nostalgic I could truly care what the haters say! Really appreciate the comment!

IMO Always liked this cover over 75. Much rather have this image of Supes dead on the ground than his cape blowing in the wind. You are right though, not sure I can top this.
