Description

Over the years, I've discovered that original art collecting is not just about the art, but the relationships you form with other collectors. And I can honestly say that one of the best friendships I made in this industry is with Eric.
I met Eric at a store signing years ago, and subsequently saw him at various Top Cow signings, getting sketches at each appearance. After awhile, he started to get into copics, and each commission he did made me want to get one. I didn't really shell out money for commissions for awhile, but when I did eventually start paying, I knew I wanted one from him.
It wasn't until about Long Beach Comic Con 2009 that I was serious in getting one. I sold a couple of comics, and told Eric that I wanted a commission. He didn't believe me until I showed him what I had given up to get the money, and then he realized I was serious.
In the course of 2.5 years, the commission kept changing, causing delays, as well as momentous life occasions that prevented its completion. Finally, at around 1:30 AM last night, I got a text from Eric saying it was done. I texted him right back and said I'm coming over.
Getting this piece from him at 2:30 in the morning on the eve of Comic Con, I can honestly say that this was well worth the wait. The copics, the details are insane. He even added his first J. Scott Campbellish splatter! But more than the artwork, I found it awesome that I could meet up with my friend at 2:30 AM and just hang out. Thanks again Eric! And here's to many more Captain Morgan and diet cokes!
