Sal Buscema is one of my all-time favorite comic book artists. He is also rather underrated, in my opinion. Which is very unfortunate.
"Our Pal Sal "always produced solid work. His pages were coherent and comprehensible. He could be counted on to keep a deadline, even when he was penciling more than one monthly title at a time. His work may not have been flashy, but he came in, did his job, and got it in on time. And he did that for more than a quarter of a century.
When Sal Buscema wasn't rushed for deadlines, valiantly penciling three or four 22 page issues each month(!) and he could put the time in, his work was wonderful. Check out his pencils on Captain America in the early 1970s, or his art on Spectacular Spider-Man in the late 1980s / early 90s, or various periods of his lengthy stint on the Hulk, or, yes, his first couple of years on Rom: Spaceknight. Very good work, in my humble opinion.
I'm happy to have obtained a few nice pieces of art by Sal.
