Dear Comic Art Fan,

The final sketchbook theme of 2010 is dedicated to the two-fisted kid partners and gal Fridays of the headlining heroes! Since the first appearance of Robin the Boy Wonder in Detective Comics #38, the sidekick has been an integral part of the superhero genre. Even before then heroes have depended on their stalwarts companions such as Robin Hood and Little John or the Lone Ranger and Tonto. Show 'em some love and post your art this month!

See you next week!

Announcements

This spring the Boston Comic Con doubles in size and moves to a much larger venue: the Hynes Convention Center! In light of the massive crowds at the previous convention, the move was essential to accommodate the growing popularity of the show. And with this line up of comic creators, every extra foot of space is absolutely needed.

Boston Comic Con is thrilled to announce that the April 30-May 1, 2011 show features the best guest list New England has ever seen. Comic fans and collectors will not want to miss this amazing opportunity to meet superstar creators including Frank Quitely, Adam Hughes, Frank Cho, Tim Sale, Darwyn Cooke, Art Adams, Matt Wagner, JG Jones, Stan Sakai, Terry Moore, Ryan Ottley, Dave Johnson, Gahan Wilson, Tony Harris, Mark Brooks, Stephane Roux, Khoi Pham, Sean Galloway, David Mack, and Howard Chaykin!

We are also pleased to announce that Golden Age legend Joe Kubert appears as a special guest on Sunday only.

Finally we are happy to welcome back Mark Chiarello, Art Director for DC Comics, who joins us again this year to do on-site artist portfolio reviews both days. Do you have what it takes to be the next great DC artist? Sign up at the show!!

Tickets are now available online through the convention website. Prices are $20 for a single day pass and $35 for a weekend pass. Details at the link!

The Boston Comic Con is a 100% independently run comic book show committed to bringing the biggest and best comic creators to New England. Run by fans for fans, Boston Comic Con is not affiliated with any other convention tour or corporate interests. Hosting over 40,000 square feet of vendors selling comic books, toys, posters, trading cards, and other pop culture memorabilia, this is a destination event for geeks of any stripe. The convention will be held Saturday April 30th and Sunday May 1st at the Hynes Convention Center, 900 Boylston Street, Boston, MA from 10am to 5pm each day. For more information please go to our website at www.bostoncomiccon.com and follow us on Twitter (@BostonComicCon) and Facebook!

1. Please tell us a little about yourself.

I am a French collector who lives near Paris. I have collected comics since the age of ten; I am at present 44 years-old! That makes it over thirty years that I have been interested in comics books. I work as a shoemaker in Paris.

2. Which piece in your gallery is your favorite?

In my gallery, my favorite piece is the Sub-Mariner #1 title splash by John Buscema. I find that this page is really representative of Buscema’s work and it reflects the magnificent anatomy and attitudes which he gives to his characters.

3. How long have you been collecting comic art and what prompted you to start?

I have collected original comic art for approximately 12 years. Thanks to a friend who made me discover boards, Frédéric Manzano.

4. How do you display/store your collection at home?

I framed Xerox copies in my office at home, on the wall and to tidy up my original boards in mylars

5. What are your top five most wanted original pages or commissions?

- Amazing Spider-Man #51 cover by John Romita Sr.
- Amazing Spider-Man #68 cover by John Romita Sr.
