Dear Comic Art Fan,

Please join me in wishing Comic Art Fans co-founder Bill Cox a happy birthday! Everyone who uses CAF owes Bill a great debt of gratitude for creating and maintaining this website for us to share our collections and passion for the art over the past ten years. Send him a message via the CAF Facebook page or @comicartfans on Twitter!

Also a bit of a website update, we had planned to get the site moved to our new server on Tuesday but it got too complicated. So we're going to start the process tonight Thursday April 18th. That means the CAF admin will not be accessible from midnight EST tonight, until we're done. We hope that time is around Noon EST Friday although we cannot guarantee when it will happen. We'll post on the Facebok page once the Admin is available again. Of course, if you find issues with the redesign or the site not working, please contact us through the website.

See you next week!

Colin Solan
CAF Editor

1. Please tell us a little about yourself.

I have been reading comic books, science fiction and fantasy since I was a nine or ten year old kid. I was always fascinated by stories of other worlds and beings with special powers. I am now 60 years old and an Insurance Consultant. However nothing has changed as I would prefer to read Spider-Man, Iron Man or a Fin Fang Foom story any day as compared to reading an insurance contract. I began collecting comics and eventually focused primarily on Timely Comics from WWII and particularly Captain America. As it became harder to find issues for my collection I began buying the original comic art that I found at the comic conventions and local shows.

2. Which piece in your gallery is your favorite?

My favorite galley piece is my Alex Ross Captain America: Reborn #1 cover. Only Alex Ross could have composed this image of Captain America being brought back to life and emerging from the white light. Ross' color selection is incredible.

3. How long have you been collecting comic art and what prompted you to start?

I was attracted to comics by the artwork of Steve Ditko and Jack Kirby. It was the cover art from Amazing Adult Fantasy, Tales to Astonish, and Tales of Suspense that roped me in. But then one day I was visiting the news stand and saw the cover of Justice League of America #10 "The Fantastic Fingers of Felix Faust" and I was instantly a reader of DC comics as well. Ultimately it was always the artwork that I loved the most.

4. How do you display/store your collection at home?

I am only able to display a very small number of pieces from my collection. However that is where Comic Art Fans provides an added value. Just like the other art collectors that visit CAF I can go onto the website and view my own collection!

5. What are your top five most wanted original pages or commissions?

My personal top five Grail pieces would be:

A) Steve Ditko Spider-Man splash page
B) Jack Kirby Fantastic Four splash page
C) Joe Kubert Enemy Ace cover from Star Spangled War Stories
D) Todd McFarlane Spider-Man splash or cover
E) Jim Lee X-Men splash or cover
