Dear Comic Art Fan,

Last weekend when Boston Comic Con was postponed at the last minute many of the local retailers and stranded artists united to give would-be con-goers a taste of what the experience is like by holding impromptu signings. Tim Seeley, creator of Hack/Slash and Revival, took the initiative to rally his fellow artists in the hotel Friday night. Creators including Carlos Pacheco, Tim Sale, Bill Willingham, David Mack, Sean Murphy, Mike Choi, William Stout, and many more signed for long lines of fans, many of whom had travelled long distances to attend the convention and were very happy to at least get the chance to shake some of the guests' hands and get a sketch or signature. Wolverine and the X-Men artist (and CAF member) Nick Bradshaw deserves special recognition for hitting three stores across Massachusetts. It was definitely a special moment in the comic book community where everyone banded together to make the best of a bad situation. Boston Comic Con is currently set to be rescheduled  with the new date to be announced soon.

See you next week!

Colin Solan
CAF Editor

1. Please tell us a little about yourself.

I've collected comics my entire life. Maybe it's the nerd in me but I've always enjoyed superheroes, monsters and science fiction. Currently I'm a teacher at a middle school in Illinois which allows me to pursue my other passion which is travel. I've had the fortune to travel to over 20 countries so far and I'm always looking for some place exciting to explore.

2. Which piece in your gallery is your favorite?

It's hard to pick a favorite since they are all have something that I love. Currently it would have to be the Amazing Spider-Man #319 page 15. I've always wanted a great Todd McFarlane splashy page of Spider-Man swinging in the city and this one definitely fits the bill.

3. How long have you been collecting comic art and what prompted you to start?

I've been collecting comic art for a little over 13 years now. It actually started by accident. I was on Ebay looking to sell some comics when I came across a category called comic art. Up until that point I had never realized that you could buy the original comic art to a comic book. After that day I was hooked. I started hunting down works by some of my favorite artists such as Jim Lee, Todd McFarlane, and Dale Keown. Although I had to sell many of the pages that I had picked up early on, I'm now trying to amass a little of the collection I once had.

4. How do you display/store your collection at home?

Many of my favorite works were up on the walls of my spare bedroom until my girlfriend moved some of her stuff into that room.  Now they are in my walk-in closet. I actually like this much better since I get to look at them every day.

5. What are your top five most wanted original pages or commissions?

There is a ton of original comic art that I would love to have but many are just way of my price range.  With that being said, here are my most wanted pages that I have a chance of affording.

1. Arthur Adam's Uncanny X-Men Annual #9 page 1

2. Dale Keown's Incredible Hulk #396 cover

3. Todd McFarlane's Amazing Spider-Man #321 page 5

4. Jim Lee's Uncanny X-Men #276 page 16

5. Marc Silvestri's Uncanny X-Men #238
