Dear Comic Art Fan,

Apologies for the late edition of this week's newsletter, everyone!

The much anticipated Captain America movie sequel The Winter Soldier opens this weekend. Superhero movies have finally arrived to the mainstream when no less of an icon as Robert Redford is acting in one. The internet buzz arround the movie is that this is Marvel Studios best to date! To commemorate the release, this month's Sketchbook theme is dedicated to Captain America and/or The Winter Soldier! Check them out at the link!

See you next week!

1. Please tell us a little about yourself.

I'm 36 years old, living just outside of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada,  happily married, gainfully employed, and very soon to be the proud father of a baby girl.

2. Which piece in your gallery is your favorite?

My favourite piece at the moment has to be the cover to Image United Interlude that I purchased unfinished from Ryan Ottley.  It took me several years to coordinate getting it to the various intended contributors in order to complete the cover as it was meant to be; but was a lot of fun, and well worth the effort.

3. How long have you been collecting comic art and what prompted you to start?

I started collecting original comic art in 2008 or 2009 when Riley Rossmo sold me a few pages from his book Proof at Image Comics (a great read if you haven't checked it out).  Once I realized that it was out there and that I could afford it, I really caught the bug.

4. How do you display/store your collection at home?

I frame what I can as I can afford it; but purchasing more art always seems to take precedence over framing what I already own.  That said, I've got an extremely understanding wife who's allowed me to take over one (well, maybe one and a half) room(s) to display my collection, so I've got about 20 pieces framed and on the wall at the moment.  The rest are in portfolios that are always within easy reach.

5. What are your top five most wanted original pages or commissions?

Right now, my top five most wanted original pages would be:

Todd McFarlane Spawn cover (though I'd settle for an Amazing Spider-Man)
Greg Capullo Spawn cover
John Romita Sr & JR Jr collaboration Spider-Man pin up
Steve McNiven Spider-Man cover
Michel Fiffe Copra Compendium #2 cover
