Dear Comic Art Fan,

The Hero Initiative is at it again with another round of sketch covers drawn by the industry's best and brightest. Marvel Comics has given them copies of blank cover variants of Uncanny X-Men #12 and over 100 artists have drawn their rendition of the mutants. The entire gallery can be seen at the link and as always every piece will be auctioned to benefit comic creators who have fallen on hard times. More info here…

See you next week!

1. Please tell us a little about yourself.

I'm an Entertainment Director for a large Midwest Nightclub and have lived in the Midwest most of my life. I go to several major conventions a year and really enjoy the hobby a great deal.

2. Which piece in your gallery is your favorite?

My favorite piece would have to be the Jim Starlin re-creation of the cover to Strange Tales #178. This comic had such a huge impact on me when it came out and the original is out of reach so... When the opportunity came I jumped at getting it done.

3. How long have you been collecting comic art and what prompted you to start?

I began reading and collecting comics in the early 70's and have followed them ever since. I began to get sketches in the mid to late 90s, but over the last few years have really started to collect more original art. It's the focus of my collecting now.

4. How do you display/store your collection at home?

I have a few items framed and hanging in my den. It's nice to be able to enjoy seeing some of these pieces each day and occasionally adding and changing out new pieces. Anything of high dollar value I have in safe keeping away from home.

5. What are your top five most wanted original pages or commissions?

My top five wants would be a John Romita Sr. Spider-Man page or cover; a Frank Frazetta painting, a Harry Lucey Archie cover, a Richard Corben painting, and a Charles Burns page. There are so many artists whose work I enjoy, it's hard to just choose five...
