In honor of the occasion we have dedicated this month's Sketchbook theme to all things Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, and Middle Earth. Share your art of Bilbo, Frodo, Gandalf, and the rest of the companions of the Ring plus villainous monsters like Sauron, Saruman, and of course Gollum! Check out what's been posted at the link!

1. Please tell us a little about yourself.

I am 48 years old and live just outside of west London, England. I have worked for 30 years at London Heathrow Airport. I work shifts and find I have plenty of time off during the week when most people are working which I like. I like to travel, I have travelled to every continent except Antarctica which I don't plan on visiting. I like to scuba dive which I find relaxing and reading. I read anything I can get my hands on and one of my hobbies is buying books from charity shops and filling up my seven book cases. My favourite book of all time is Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. It is a mammoth tome and took me over a year to finish, it's not an easy read but very rewarding, I borrowed it from my library  and must have renewed it about 30 times, it even travelled with me to Morocco, Spain and Mexico.

2. Which piece in your gallery is your favorite?

Hard to choose a favourite piece of my art, but the piece I am most impressed with is the Tank Girl Cover from The Odyssey #2. It seems incredible that someone can draw something so detailed with a pen. Brian has since moved onto computer to do his work, which is a blow for collectors of his art. Another reason I like it is because it's coloured which Brian did not do much of. I was able to get this on eBay from a guy in London so I didn't even have to wait for the postman, I shot straight into town to collect it.

3. How long have you been collecting comic art and what prompted you to start?

I think I must have been collecting comic art for something like 20 years. I started off as probably most collectors do by buying comics. I used to have my favourite artists and one day in a comic shop in London I saw a Brian Bolland Joker page for sale, it was in a frame on the wall. It featured the joker playing cards and I was thinking about buying it but it was too much money, something like £400! There was no way I was going to spend that much on a page of comic art! What a mistake that was. Anyway I saw somewhere there was to be a comic gallery event with two of my favourite artists, Brian Bolland and Mike McMahon who both worked on 2000AD. At the gallery there was lots of their artwork on display and after the show I was talking to them and as I preferred Mike's art, I asked him if I could buy some, he agreed and that was that. I found collecting art can be quite addictive.

4. How do you display/store your collection at home?

I used to put some pages on the wall under glass, then I moved onto getting some framed but now I keep them all in archive quality sleeves and have them in portfolio cases, except a few that are too large. I feel you have a responsibility to look after them and not let them fade under sunlight or get damaged and I try to do that as best as I can.

5. What are your top five most wanted original pages or commissions?

I mostly collected UK comics and so my collection is similarly UK based. My top 5 wants would be a Bolland Joker page, any Judge Dredd 2000AD cover by Mike McMahon, a Marvel Thor cover from the 70's, John Buscema, I'd like one for nostalgia really. Jamie Hewlett page of Tank Girl and lastly a Fables cover by James Jean.
