Dear Comic Art Fan,

Last weekend I had the opportunity to attend an exhibition opening at Galley Nucleus with art from the Nickelodeon program Avatar: The Last Airbender and its spinoff Legend of Korra. The work on display featured early development art from the show as well as tribute pieces from members of the production crew and fans. An estimated 1,500 people lined up for hours to attend the event which gallery owner Ben Zhu said was the biggest turnout in their history. The artists and voice actors present very graciously signed art books and prints andposed for photos with fans all night long. Most of the artwork available for sale was snatched up immediately but you can still view the pieces and order select prints at the link...

See you next week!

1. Please tell us a little about yourself.

I am from New Jersey but now live in Northern New England.  I am a cook at a small, locally owned restaurant and I spend quite a bit of time in Japan.

2. Which piece in your gallery is your favorite?

My favorite piece would have to be my Task commission by Rob Liefeld, it was the very first piece I got from him.

3. How long have you been collecting comic art and what prompted you to start?

I have been collecting seriously since 2006. I started because I saw other peoples collections and I thought they were beautiful so I wanted to start one of my own and focus on Rob Liefeld since he is my favorite artist.

4. How do you display/store your collection at home?

Everything is in two 11x17 hardcover binders except my Psylocke commissions and my Bloodstrike cover which are framed on my wall.

5. What are your top five most wanted original pages or commissions?

Top five wanted pieces are:

Youngblood #0 cover art by Rob Liefeld

Youngblood Vol. 2 #2 cover art by Rob Liefeld

Team Youngblood cover art #19 by Rob Liefeld

Extreme Sacrifice #2 cover art by Rob Liefeld

cover art to The Comics Journal #70 by Frank Miller (or anything from Miller's Daredevil run)
