1. Please tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Jeff and I was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I live 40 minutes outside of Toronto with my fiancée who is CAF member "N Sniper." I was introduced to comics by my uncle Joe at age eight. He brought me to my first comic book store where I bought Marvel's G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #59. Nine years later I took a break from collecting comics. I started playing bass guitar in bands, dating girls, and working. But with all the incredible comic book movies and TV shows that have come out I found my way back 10 years ago.
2. Which piece in your gallery is your favorite?
Tough question! Currently it's my Guardians of the Galaxy #21 cover by Nick Bradshaw. Nick's attention to detail is absolutely incredible!! He was made one of Marvel's upcoming "All New Young Guns" artists. Got to meet him at Toronto Comicon and he is a super nice guy! I was also completely surprised how great the Guardians of the Galaxy movie was. When I found out there was going to be a talking raccoon and tree in the movie I assumed it was going to be terrible. Wow was I wrong! I have to say it was my favorite movie of 2014 just ahead of Captain America 2. Couldn't imagine the movie without Rocket Raccoon and Groot! Unfortunately the comic has ended with the Secret Wars crossover but I’m looking forward to the second movie.
3. How long have you been collecting comic art and what prompted you to start?
I've been collecting comic & animation art for about ten years. Robert Kirkman's Walking Dead helped me find my love for comics again. Shortly after reading Walking Dead I started purchasing Charlie Adlard's art from his rep at Splash Page Art. Adlard's prices have gotten to be very expensive so for the most part I've moved on to collecting Marvel art from my favorite comics. I've been concentrating mostly on covers the past couple years.
4. How do you display/store your collection at home?
I have my favorite pieces professionally framed throughout our home. My Guardians of the Galaxy, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Ghost Rider cover art is hanging in my basement jam room. The stairs going down to the jam room are filled with my Walking Dead art including published covers & interiors by Charlie Adlard and commissions by Tony Moore. I also have my four page Wolverine #183 sequence framed in our dining room along with my fiancée’s Mike Deodato Elektra splash kissing Daredevil. My fiancée has all of her Chew artwork by Rob Guillory framed in our spare bedroom. I'm pretty lucky that my fiancée likes comic art!
5. What are your top five most wanted original pages or commissions?
1. Any pages from "G.I. Joe and the Transformers #1" mini-series from 1987 by Herb Trimpe. I'm trying to put the entire issue back together.
2. An Amazing Spider-Man cover
3. A Wolverine cover
4. Marvel G.I. Joe A Real American Hero volume 1 cover
5. Marvel Star Wars cover from the old or new series
