PedigreeComics.com Launches 1st Original Comic Art Auction on October 10th!

Pedigree Comics, well known throughout our hobby for selling and auctioning high end certified CBCS & CGC comics, is proud to announce that they are now entering into the auctioning of original comic book art, with their 1st ever art auction starting on October 10th and ending on the evening of Oct 20th, 2016.

The auction will feature original art for every type of collector from Golden Age to Modern, with prices starting as low as $100 and up with absolutely no buyers premium. Seller's fee will be the lowest in the industry: As low as 7% and no higher than 10% per consignment.

"We have been working around the clock, researching, meeting art collectors and sellers, taking in consignments, and working on the IT end of our site for a year just to get this right." stated Randy Lawrence, Pedigree's Original Art Consignment Director " When we first started talking about doing an art auction, we decided it needed to be a great experience for both the sellers and the collectors, and that is just what we believe we have accomplished. I think that everyone will be shocked on how well they did doing buying and selling in the auction!"

There is still time to consign your original art by reaching out to Randy Lawrence by calling him at: (561)886-8777 or emailing him at: RandyLawrence@pedigreecomics.com. Randy is always happy to talk with consigners night and day, so reach out when it's most convenient for you. Remember, the earlier you consign, the more exposure your pieces will receive!

There are three very easy ways to consign your art to any of Pedigree’s upcoming Original Art Auctions and the only criteria is that each piece of art must be worth no less than $100.00 each:

  1. Ship your art pieces directly to their offices in Wellington, Florida. They will inventory, scan and upload each piece into the Grand Auction listing. The art will be listed under your personal account and you will receive email notification at the conclusion of the auction with a list of every consigned piece that sold along with the winning bid made.
  2. Email the scans of the art you wish to consign directly to them at Randylawrence@pedigreecomics.com. They will format and upload each scan onto their server and then put each book into the Grand Auction listing. Please use a .jpeg format with the resolution set at 72 and the pixel width at 550 for optimum clarity. If you do not have a scanner you can use a digital camera.
  3. You can upload your own scans, item information, descriptions and reserve amounts, if any, by utilizing their Automated Consignment System. Just register onto the site (www.PedigreeComics.com) and login, click the “Customer Page” tab under “Your Account” and then click “Consignments” (under the “Auctions” heading). You will then be able to enter the Pedigree Comics Consignment Management System and list your own original art. Pedigree will receive an email once you have uploaded the scan and art information for each individual item into the system and they will then review the information imparted for accuracy. The item(s) will then be added to the Grand Auction listing to be bid on. You will be amazed how simple it is to use the Automated Consignment System!

1. Please tell us a little about yourself.

My name is Dustin, and I am 31 years old. I live in the USA with my wife of almost nine years, our soon to be one year-old son, and our two dogs. I am a stay-at-home dad, and I am finishing up a degree in Computer Science at the same time. When it gets boiled down, and I simply a geek/nerd at heart.

2. Which piece in your gallery is your favorite?

As any collector can tell you, picking a single favorite piece is incredibly hard; all the pieces I have in my collection are there because they speak to me on some level. With that said, I've narrowed my favorite down to two pieces. The first would have to be Harley Quinn in the Bathtub by Sajad Shah. I've chosen this piece because it was my first taste of the original comic art world - it doesn't hurt that he completely knocked this piece out of the park!

My second favorite is the Green Arrow/Wolverine piece by Skottie Young. I'm a huge fan of Skottie's work (the first original cover I bought was a Skottie piece). I was lucky enough to get into a sketch opportunity for Skottie, and jumped at the chance to get a piece of art done for my son - we named him Oliver Logan after our two favorite comic book characters, so of course I had to have the Green Arrow and Wolverine in the piece. This piece has the added bonus of being colored by the insanely talented Sabine Rich.

3. How long have you been collecting comic art and what prompted you to start?

My first piece of original art was commissioned in November of 2013. I loved the idea of sketch covers and being able to commission ideas from artists and allowing the artist the freedom to interpret those ideas. I have since moved on to purchasing original covers and interior pages, but I will still get a sketch cover done from time to time, depending on the artist.

4. How do you display/store your collection at home?

The bulk of my artwork is in portfolio cases. I do have some pieces framed and hung on the walls, and I rotate out what graded sketch covers I display depending on my mood.

5. What are your top five most wanted original pages or commissions?

My want list isn't concrete by any means. I'm always looking for art that I enjoy looking at and that speaks to me in some way. That being said, I'd always be open to adding more artwork for my son, as well as any Skottie Young artwork, especially his older cover work (Annihilators #4, Cable/Deadpool, etc.).
