Dear Comic Art Fan,

If you're reading this then you probably didn't get to go to Comic-Con International this year either. Good luck to all you lucky dogs in San Diego. And if anyone can corner Avatar: The Last Airbender creators Bryan Konietzko and Mike DiMartino and get 'em to do a sketch for me, I will totally be your BFF.

Seee you next week...

1. Please tell us a little about yourself.

Background: I am currently 42 years old, was born in California but grew up overseas.  I love to travel and have been to Japan, Singapore, Thailand, China, Korea, Philippines, Australia, Greenland, Oman, South America, Mexico, Canada, and even flew over the North Pole.

Occupation: I spent 9 years flying around the world as an Aviator (Naval Flight Officer/NFO) in the United States Navy but am currently employed as a Training Coordinator in Hawaii on the island of Oahu.

Other interests: I enjoy Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and am a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

2. What is your favorite piece in your gallery and why?

Hmmm... favorite piece in my gallery.  That's a tough decision but if I had to choose one, it would be Alex Ross' Superman Forever (Lenticular) piece. It is simply amazing and I'm sorry that the picture in my gallery doesn't do it justice.

FYI, I also own the second Alex Ross Forever (Lenticular) painting so I actually have all 7 images.  I haven't had a chance to take a decent picture yet but will list it as soon as one is available.  Here's the only current picture I have of my newest piece:

I am in the process of getting both pieces professionally photographed and will list them shortly.  I'm hoping the pictures will be better than this quality:

3. How long have you been collecting comic art and what prompted you to start?

I have been collecting art for about 10 years and my first piece was Membros by Ken Kelly. I am a huge Micronauts fan and was fortunate enough to pick up 7 of the original card art paintings (only 8 exist).  I'm still hoping Marty Abrams will let me pick it up one day :)

4. How do you display/store your collection at home?

Ironically, none of my pieces in my collection are currently displayed because I'm remodeling my home.  When I'm done, I will display multiple pieces (by artist) on different walls throughout my home.  I actually have over 29 pieces so I will only display about 13 at one time.

5. What are your top five most wanted original pages or commissions.

I limited my selection to items that are on the Comic Art Fans web-site.  Here's my top 5:

1) Frazetta, Frank: Carson of Venus Oil 1972 (Owner Patrick Kochanek)

2) 'ALEX ROSS - Spring 2008: Alex Ross--Upper Deck original-MARVEL (Owner Sal Abbinanti)

3) Simon Bisley Paintings: Conan the Savage#1 Cover Painting by Simon Bisley 1995 (Owner Matthew Ellis)

4) Greg Staples: Legends of the DC Universe 38 Cover (Owner Jason Harris)

5) Greg Staples: Covers: Judge Dredd/Judge Death (Owner Paul Stephenson)

Note:  I would really love to get my hands on a Sebastian Kruger original (number 2 on my want list), but his work doesn't appear anywhere on the Comic Art Fans web-site.
