The success of this Marketplace will depend on the honesty and integrity of all who participate. As a site that has participated in supporting auctions and fixed price transactions for other companies for many years we're well aware of the means to which Buyers and Sellers can disrupt a Marketplace by not following the rules. We have established safeguards to help us monitor auctions for activity that could be viewed as fraudulent. For instance, all Bids placed Buyers and Auctions listed by Sellers will have their IP address stored. We'll be able to see if a Seller is bidding on their own auction using multiple accounts to do so, and similarly we'll be able to see if a Buyer is trying to use multiple accounts as well. We will not tolerate behavior which we feel could cause distrust and damage to this Marketplace. Anyone found negligent in their actions within this Marketplace may find themselves banned from ever participating in this Marketplace again, and may also have their CAF membership permanently revoked.

What method of payment from Buyer to Seller is allowed?

Buyers may pay Sellers with whatever payment options the Seller allows for. We do not restrict the transaction to one form of payment. Because of the built in Buyer protection we encourage you to use services like Paypal that add protections to your transaction.

Some Important Rules to Live By

Please remember that placing a bid on an Auction or agreeing to purchase a fixed price listing from a Seller is a binding agreement you're establishing with that Seller. Both the Seller and CAF expect you to pay for the Item in a curteous timeframe as established by the Seller. If you fail to pay for the Items you have won at Auction or agreed to purchase from a Seller, your account will be subject to review by CAF and your CAF account and Gallery could be terminated.

CAF will monitor all Bidders who routinely place and retract bids on Items, a ploy commonly used to determine another Bidder's high bid. If this becomes a consistent problem you will run the risk of no longer being able to participate in the CAF Marketplace, and your Gallery could also be terminated. Do not think that you can create a separate account to do this either, as we also track the IP Address of all CAF Accounts and Bids placed by CAF Accounts. We do this only to maintain the integrity of the Marketplace, so it will be very easy to locate Bidders using multiple accounts. Sellers also have their IP tracked, so you cannot create separate accounts to shill bid your own auctions either.

As a Bidder we also request that you refrain from making off-CAF offers to Sellers to have them end their auctions early. Sellers are asked to make CAF aware of Bidders trying to circumvent the Marketplace to make a purchase, or in any way damage the integrity of the Marketplace.

How do I become a Buyer/Bidder in Your Marketplace?

All registered CAF Members can participate as a Buyer/Bidder in our Marketplace. When you are prepared to make your first bid or purchase, you will be asked to provide us with your contact information (address and phone number). This information will not be used for anything other than resolving potential disputes and will not be shared with anyone else.

SELLERS

Some Important Rules to Live By

Sellers are the most important part of the CAF Marketplace. Without Sellers having art to sell, there is no Marketplace. Without great Sellers, CAF will not earn the respect of those people looking to Bid on or Buy comic art.

Probably the most important part of being a great Seller on CAF is providing very accurate listing information about your comic art for sale. Always describe your Items as best as possible. If there's whiteout, loose word balloons, water damage, please be sure to describe the condition of the artwork accurately. It's very important that a Seller be responsive when an auction ends, and to communicate all their shipping and insurance options promptly.

How do I become a Seller in Your Marketplace?

Sellers must be pre-approved by CAF prior to their participation in the Marketplace. We believe that having a strong Seller core who have earned the respect of Buyers will make the CAF Marketplace a trustworthy place to conduct transactions. When a person requests to become a Seller we may ask to review their feedback from other venues such as eBay, or request references from customers that have purchased from them in the past.

What are the Fees to Sell Comic Art In this Marketplace?

The price to sell original comic art in our Marketplace is based on whether you are a Premium CAF Member or a Non-Premium CAF Member. It will cost less for Premium CAF Members to sell artwork in our Marketplace. The percentages listed below are based on the final selling price for the Seller's item.

$0.00 to list an item
$0.00 to add Reserve - $0.35 if the Reserve is Not Met

Non-Premium CAF Member Seller Rates

$0.25 to list an item whether it sells or not

Seller Fee Examples

Whether the item is being sold at auction or for a fixed price, we have set up an identical tiered fee system based on the final selling price of the item. Fee percentages fall into 3 final selling price tiers, $0.01 to $200.00, $200.01 to $1000.00, and $1000.01 and greater.

Example One: $500.00 Auction

A Premium CAF Member with an Auction that has a final selling price of $500, the fees would be calculated with the first $200.00 x 5.5% = $11.00 and the next $300 x 3.5% = $10.50. So the final CAF Premium Member Seller's fee for this $500 Auction would be $21.50 ($11.00 + $10.50 = $21.50).

A similar $500 Auction for a Non-Premium CAF Member would cost $27.50 ($14.00 + $13.50 = $27.50).

A Premium CAF Member saves $6.00 on an Auction with a final selling price of $500.

Example Two: $1,500.00 Fixed Price Listing

A Premium CAF Member with a Fixed Price Listing that has a final selling price of $1,500.00, the fees would be calculated with the first $200.00 x 7% = $14.00 the next $800 x 4.5% = $36.00, and the remaining $500 x 2% = $10.00. So the final CAF Premium Member Seller's fee for this $1,500 Fixed Price Listing would be $60.00 ($14.00 + $36.00 + $10.00 = $60.00).

A similar $1,500.00 Fixed Price Listing for a Non-Premium CAF Member would cost $73.50 ($17.00 + $44.00 + $12.50 = $73.50).

A Premium CAF Member saves $13.50 on an Fixed Price Listing with a final selling price of $1,500.00.

When are My Seller's Fees Calculated For an Item?

Seller's Transaction Fees are based at the time an auction closes. So if your auction closes at $1,500.00 and you are a Non-Premium CAF member, you will be invoiced for $73.50 for that auction at the end of the month. If you decide to become a Premium Member before the end of the month your Item(s) sells, you are still charged at the Non-Premium Member rate of $73.50. So if you plan on selling a lot of Items, it is best to become a Premium CAF Member before your auctions close.

When am I Billed For My Seller's Fees?

You will be billed the first of each month for the prior month's transactions. You will have the option to pay by Paypal, Personal Check, or Money Order.

BUYER'S FEES

Premium CAF Members are not charged a Buyer's Fee to purchase a Fixed Priced Listing or Auction in the CAF Marketplace. Non-Premium CAF Members will be charged $2.00 per transaction.
