A WonderCon
Weekend
We had a
marvelous time at the WonderCon convention in San Francisco
this past weekend! The show was strongly attended and well
organized, and it was such a pleasure to interact with all
the artists and attendees.
Comics legends
Sergio
Aragones, Nick
Cardy, Gene
Colan, Al
Feldstein, Jeph
Loeb and many others were in attendance, as were talents
like Patrick
McDonnell, Matt
Busch, Linda
Medley, and so many more!
We had a
record weekend, and there were definitely some standouts that
everyone wanted to get their hands on. Topping our list was
a newly imported book by Sergio
Toppi, Bab El Ahlam -- unfortunately, it was
so popular that we ran out and it will be a few more weeks
until it's available for order -- keep an eye on our website
and weekly emails!
Claire
Wendling was also as popular as ever, and our new
imports by Miguelanxo
Prado, Guillaume
Sorel, François
Boucq, Vittorio
Giardino, and John
Howe also generated a lot of interest. New EC
Archives were hot sellers, and Doc
Savage, The
Shadow, and Robert
E. Howard's books were top draws. Digital Art
was a popular genre, and everyone wanted Mutts
stuff so they could get it signed by Patrick
McDonnell. Signed Sketchbooks
by Frank
Cho, Dean
Yeagle, Chris
Sanders and Eric
Powell sold like hotcakes, and Illustration
and ImageS
magazines were must-haves.
We also
picked up some new goodies, which we'll tell you more about later. One
of our favorites that's now in stock is The
Art of Animal Character Design by David
Colman. This thick hardcover is quite a treat. Signed
by the artist, its incredible animals bring to mind great
artists like Claire Wendling. Very appealing!
