Original art for The Silver Surfer poster by Jon J. Muth, circa 1989. Large mixed media painting depicting the "Sentinel Of The Spaceways" in grand form! Approximate image size is 25" x 17" on rigid board. This piece was buried for the past 25 years in a private collection and happily surfaced in San Diego, 2014. My favorite Marvel character! Thanks AS.

I remember it very well, as I was surprised at the time that Muth would do a superhero poster, being that he's not really into superheroes. But he did a great job and it's great to see the original surface for the first time since it was first purchased!

I remember being offered this after I purchased all my Moonshadow pages. At the time, I didn't really think of Jon as a super-hero artist, so I passed. Of course he then went on to do the classic Havok and Wolverine series with Kent Williams. I've always regretted not grabbing this one when I had the chance (especially after seeing the current price tag in San Diego). It was truly impressive there in person.

Nice image and a bit out of what I expect from Muth which is great. This is the first time I am seeing this image.

Beautiful, always loved this image. Wish someone would do an art book or something on the Marvel Press posters...

This is just stunning. Interesting that Muth decided to take the Buscema version of Silver Surfer as model, more lean and humane than Kirby's. Must be amazing in person.
