Description

"From issues 253 (July 1978) through 270 (May 1981)and issues 272-282 (July 1981-May 1982) of World's Finest Comics, you could count on a tasty dose of SHAZAM! with elegant Don Newton art on all but the final strip. It was nice to have something--and someone--to count on in those days of here today, gone tomorrow creators. And Newton's style was gor-gee-ous."

Don did a great job on these stories and this is a good example of his work. He was taken too soon.

Don's World's Finest run was a marvel (ahem, sorry). But seriously, I liked the Alan Weiss' issue of Shazam and the Buckler/Giordano Superman vs Shazam crossovers, but it was Don who was the best at transposing a less cartoony style (ala C.C. Beck and Kurt Schaffenberger) on "Shazam" while never sacrificing the charm of the characters.

Newton did beautiful work back then. It was always recognizable with a smooth flow and it made for great storytelling. This is the sort of Newton example every collector would want to have.
