It almost broke my heart when I discovered that Arthur had recreated this piece. While I have enjoyed his interpretations of the classic covers he has been recreating of late, I never thought he would resort to recreating his own material. It feels almost like the end of an inncence for me.

Anyhow, this is the original. It has the distinction of being the very first piece of artwork I purchased from Arthur way back in 1986. It was also the beginning of what has become a very long and passionate endeavor for me.

Since I acquired it almost 20 years ago, the piece has been featured in one of Arthur's sketchbooks, used as accompanying artwork for an interview Arthur did in CBA #17, and most recently recreated by the artist as a personal commission. Apparently, quite the popular image. Makes me even more proud (if that's possible) to own it.

I guess it's become fairly obvious by now that I am a great admirer of Arthur's work. It has truly been both a pleasure and a privilege to collect his artwork over the years. I hope to continue doing so for as long as time and money permits.

I won't bother to make comparisons between this piece and its "clone" because personal tastes are so subjective and I'm sure each version will have its share of admirers. But after nearly two decades of owning this piece, I can't help but have a personal bias. Reminds me of that tag line in one of the old Porsche ads. ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTES! =)

If you sold me your Thundercats cover you might be able to afford to buy out that recreation. Then you could use it for tinder next winter :)

Siedlik, you are one nutty guy! First of all, you're NOT getting my Thundercats cover. Second, even if I had the money, what makes you think I would even WANT that recreation? Third, and most important, regardless of how I feel about that piece, it IS an original Art Adams, and as such, a holy and sacred piece that should not be harmed in any way! :)

"Oui!" This bring back memories of a comic book store called"Ogleo". I may not have seen this image before, but a Longshot piece by Art Adams makes me think about me think about the first time I meet him! Which is were I first meet Eric too! Hummmm... Maybe that's why Eric's got SO much cool Art Adams originals! :)

Thanks Walden! I really miss those OGLEO days. Seems so long ago and so much has changed. But I'm so glad we met and became friends. And I'm so proud of the fine inker you've become. For all you folks reading this, be sure to check out Walden's work with pencilling sensation Justiniano on DC Comics mega hot titles HUMAN RACE and DAY OF VENGEANCE for some butt kicking artwork!

This pin-up was so cool I wanted to see the other one - In most cases I really don't care for recreations - but I'll make an exception with this piece. My hat is off to Arthur - he's undoubtedly getting better with age! Does anyone know if Adams had lasik or something?

Thanks Gerry! So that there's no confusion, this is the original, dated 10/86. The other Longshot pinup on this site is the recreated version which is dated 2/05. Glad you like it though! :)

Well Frank, if you want the title of ULTIMATE ADAMS FAN, you'll have to arm wrestle me for it. heh-heh! Anyway, thanks for the very kind words and the great perspective on this piece. That's a great way of looking at it and I appreciate the sentiment.

Eric, I've loved this piece since you first shared it with me some twenty (yikes!) years ago. Not much Longshot art from this period - & that jet pack/wing gear is right off a Micronauts toy. Another Beut!
