Drucklieb, H.L.
H.L. (Herman Lui) Drucklieb (1888 - 1932) is one of the best illustrators that hardly anyone knows about. He illustrated a tremendous children’s book titled “The Adventures of Mr. Scoodle-Doo”, which pre-dated, but was on par with Dr. Seuss’ work. In addition to the other handful of books he illustrated, Drucklieb was a regular cartoonist/illustrator for Judge and John Martin's Book magazines, as well as a number of other publications. Drucklieb's pen line had a wonderful liveliness to it, even on the small scale that he often appears to have drawn on.
Drucklieb also drew under the pen-name of Lui Trugo, focusing on more adult-oriented magazines and books with the pseudonym.
