CLICK HERE FOR AUCTION LISTING!11x14" Bainbridge Illustration Board w/mixed media original art shows Dr. Mindbender, w/press-on lettering at bottom left listing character as "Interrogator" w/hand-lettered "Cobra Interrogator - Baron Von Schiartzie" text below. Dr. Mindbender was introduced to the G.I. Joe toyline in 1986, occasionally referred to as "Dr. Brainwave" (in Marvel's G.I. Joe #44 comic book) and also as "The Interrogator" (on Serpentor's file card) as seen here. Art is by George Woodbridge, who began as a freelancer on MAD magazine, where he illustrated for 50 years. Woodbridge had an amazing eye for detail that he used to illustrate many military books and he was also an avid military reenactor, which led to his meeting legendary G.I. Joe designer Ron Rudat, who then brought Woodbridge into Hasbro, where he spent many years working on the G.I. Joe brand as a freelance artist. Woodbridge has signed at lower right, and Rudat has signed below Woodbridge's signature (and art was obtained directly from Rudat in 2009). Cobra symbol at top left is a sticker added to board. This Hasbro 1986 presentation art was used in a figure's creation as part of a presentation to Hasbro executives where the action figure would receive final approval for development. In some cases, Hasbro would outsource the presentation art to a non-Hasbro artist such as Woodbridge. This type of art was mostly used to promote the line w/buyers. Some blunting to the corners and some minor marks, but this does not affect the art, which displays Exc. overall. Chris Murray Collection.
