Description
When PM newspaper went under in 1948, it was continued as the New York Star for two more years, from 1948 to 1949. Some of the artists who worked for PM continued with the New York Star, but not all did. A certain Walt Kelly got his newspaper strip start in the paper, with Pogo starting there in 1948. This cartoon illustration ran as an ad for the New York Star, and you can easily see the difference in headlines. One is a serious newspaper, while the other is a rag. The piece is unsigned, and I'm having little luck discovering who the artist is. Jack Sparling drew his Claire Voyant for PM, and the style does look similar, but there are enough differences that I'm just not sure.

Anyone have an idea as to who drew this?

Thanks.

Pretty funny that the kids are the ones reading these sensationalist unsavory headlines.
