TARZAN (1999) Framed Tarzan Multi-Layer Hand-Painted Cel and Original Production Background

A three-cel setup featuring Tarzan from Walt Disney's 1999 animated feature, presented on its original key master production background. This piece originates from the official Disney Art Program and was first released to collectors via Sotheby's in 2000.

Though the film itself was produced digitally using Disney's pioneering "Deep Canvas" technique, this cel setup was created after its release using original production drawings, hand-inked and painted by Disney artists to recreate and honour the traditional methods of cel animation.

Tarzan is rendered large and expressive, centrally positioned with striking intensity, set against the richly textured bamboo jungle that exemplifies the film's lush, immersive art direction. The lot comprises three cel layers, including two overlays, carefully registered to match the scene's background from Sequence 18.5, Scene 3/a.

This is a rare and collectable display piece from the last decade of Disney's 20th-century animation output, blending digital innovation with a hand-crafted tribute to the studio's legacy. It comes presented in a Disney original studio mat and frame and bears the official Walt Disney seal. Dimensions (framed): 48 cm x 58 cm x 3 cm (18.75" x 22.75" x 1.25")
