Description
Now I moved onto the foreground tree. After washing on a base color of Raw Umber to the desired richness, I began essentially drawing in the various details (vines, branches, crevices) with a more opaque Raw Umber, using mainly synthetic round brushes and bristle filberts. I also patted on some texture with a piece of natural sea sponge. When that was done, I re-enforced the details in the tree with Hookers Green Deep, further giving form to the tree.I built up several washes of the green to help turn the form and tone down the warmth of the Umber. There are no highlights at this point. It's basically a watercolor technique, just using acrylics. You can also see how the distant tree has receded into the background now that a darked foreground element has been added.
