Description
Original write-up: "When I purchased this six-page story several years ago, the seller told me that this was Mike Grell's first published professional work. Can anyone out there confirm?"

Addendum: Since I posted this page many years ago without much fanfare, a sub-set of original art collecting has taken hold of our 'investment' hobby now. Without identifying the numerous collectors who have elevated birth and first appearance original art pages to all time highs, this page is from Grell's first work professionally published that started the legend. It also identified him with his signature character, Green Arrow. As a result, I changed the title heading now that I have moved this to my Featured gallery section.

Man, I remember this story from when it first came out, I was 9 and had a subscription to Action...for those that don't know, this is the return of Krypto who had been absent for several years. Thanks for sharing this! Keith

My comic collecting origin comes in three parts.  This is from part two and comes from the first comic my grandpa bought for me when I visited him in Brooklyn so will always be a special standout issue for me.  This backup story was equally etched into my head along with the main featured Superman story.  Naturally I didn't know it was Grell's first published artwork or the return of Krypto but over the years Krypto has always been a favorite and I loved Grell's work whenever I saw it.  In my emergence as an OA fan in "modern" times it was acquiring Grell artwork that really gave me the seemingly incurable bug although I have far less of it than I wish.  Very cool that you have this complete story!
