Last year, I contacted Raoul to see if he'd be interested in creating a color version of my favorite Brothers Hildebrandt painting from their work illustrating the original 1977 publication of Terry Brook's seminal novel, "The Sword of Shannara". The final prelim for that original painting by Greg and Tim, titled "Assassin", is also a part of my collection. The image of Stenmin as he betrays and murders Prince Palance Buckhannah in the dungeons of Tyrsis has always been one of my favorites from the book, the first fantasy novel I ever read, and I figured I'd never be able to track down the original. I couldn't think of anyone more appropriate than Raoul to try and take on this assignment. And he absolutely outdid himself. To say I'm pleased is a gigantic understatement!
