For those that have heard my stories about G.I. Joe art, you'll have heard that none of Mike Vosburg's original G.I. Joe covers have ever surfaced publicly. And, although Mike does do commissions for collectors, he's rarely done G.I. Joe cover recreations. To date, he's only done recreations of issues #9 and #12.
After Mike and I did our successful art sale here on CAF, he kindly gifted me this recreation of the cover to issue #13, one of Mike's favorite covers from the run. It's great to add this one to my G.I. Joe art collection!
As we all grew up, I don't think we ever really thought that we'd grow up to become friends with the artists and other creators we admired. I'm happy to say that I've had the pleasure of calling Mike a friend for over 20 years. Through conventions, letters, telephone calls, e-mails, and other mediums... this is a wonderful hobby we have here where many of us here can say that they've had the pleasure of getting to know the creators who brought us some of our favorite stories. Mike is one of those great creators and friends.
