Description

PERCY CROSBY SKIPPY Daily Comic Strip Original Art (Central Press Association, 1927).

Tremendously influential in its day, Skippy was one of the earlier transmedia sensations, with movies and radio spinoffs. Over the longer term, the feature helped to inspire Charles' Schulz's Peanuts and Bill Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes. A trace of Crosby's creation survives in Skippy-brand peanut butter, an unlicensed product to which Crosby objected and to which Crosby's descendants still object.

Looks great and the strip was an inspiration during tough times having a kid bring optimism and a voice of reason.  Crosby's own tragic life is worth a look up as well as a cautionary tale.

I love Percy Crosby's Skippy. Did you know that Charles M. Schulz often cited Skippy as the inspiration for Peanuts? It's true. He said he learned how to write gags from Percy Crosby.
