An original ink and gouache on board illustration by Clyde Caldwell, circa 1971. Caldwell created this image for the Edgar Rice Burroughs fanzine The Jasoomian, where it appeared on the back cover of issue #6 in 1972. Several other illustrations by Caldwell in the same style are featured throughout this issue. A copy of that magazine is in the pictures AND INCLUDED. The illustration depicts a John Carter-esque hero wielding a sword alongside an almost-nude female companion as they face off against three opponents in an other-worldly chamber. Caldwell would go on to have continued success as an illustrator and created covers for many books and other magazines including publications such as Heavy Metal, The Savage Sword of Conan, Epic Illustrated, Dragon, and Dungeon.
