Description2-2025...I've been a big of the Charlton Heroes. Ditko's work on several of the characters, their influence and inspiration on the Watchmen characters, and their integration to the DC Universe make them stand out as rather unique in the comic book world.It is inscribed "Mac from Jack" and the seller thought it possible it was originally penciled by Jack Kirby, and though I would have my doubts, the style/influence is there. Captain Atom is front and center and we have Son of Vulcan, Nightshade, and Judomaster on the left then we have the Question, Blue Beetle, Peacemaker, and Peter Cannon, Thunderbolt on the right. Slightly larger than 11x17 and true cover quality! Social/Sharing |

wow what a cool piece including so many classic designs for Charlton hero characters! Mike certainly pays proper tribute to the illustrators/creators who originally spawned these characters to life. I think your gut instinct is probably correct that Jack Kirby did not pencil this and that note is about stylistic tribute or something of that nature but someone with a more discerning eye or knowledge of both Mike or Jack may weigh in who knows. either way, nice piece.

The character designs are very 60's Ditko. I'm sure the layout is Kirby fourth world and the pose of Captain Atom is taken from Kirby's Thor.
