This is a really cool mixed media color piece that Mignola did as his original attempt for the Fantastic Four Marvel Press poster #077, from 1990 in David Mandel's gallery/collection . I reached out to Mignola via Facebook messenger (see additional image) for the story of its origin, and he shared this explanation, "I originally was doing that poster as a painting--I can't remember now if I actually finished the painting or not but do remember that I wasn't happy with it--So I cut out the chunk of it that I WAS happy with--And that's what this is--Just the good part of the painting, the only bit of it that survives."
