John Romita Sr – Amazing Spider-man 40 FULL Cover Recreation HOLY GRAIL

First piece of 2026!!!!

I don't have words to express how impressive this piece is. To see it in person is to see the wonder and majesty of Mr. Romita, who just never aged, he drew this at the age of 80! I don't even understand. This piece even has corner box art! Almost in a Dikto style. As far as I'm aware, outside the original OA, only one other recreation of this book exists, I painted cover recreation over by Mike Burkey.

To me ASM 40 is in the top 5 Romita Sr Covers of all-time: 1) ASM 50, 2) ASM 39, 3) ASM 70, 4) ASM 121, 5) ASM 40. Would love to hear your top 5 in the comments.

I imagine somewhere out there, someone owns the OA silver age Romita covers, unfortunately I will never be one of those people. To own a full recreation is just a blessing for me, that it's also CGC signature series is just wild. I know people may think I use the word grail too loosely when looking at my gallery, I just consider myself extremely lucky in this hobby but this is a holy grail. I hope that with each piece I add, I can put a spotlight on the legitimacy of sketch covers as an OA medium and that, yes, we can hang with the best of you.
