Description
Fun one here. I was fortunate to have my notifications turned on so I saw when Stephen's rep (Kirk Dilbeck / 3 Wishes here on CAF) posted this. I had not seen the cover in previews yet so seeing the original art was my first exposure. It really grabbed me, and in that moment I remembered that I actually have the original cover art to a variant cover to Incredible Hulk #1 (the series preceding Infernal. The variant I have is by David Marquez, see my gallery for it). As this ran through my head, and I think as a bit of personal justification since I already really liked this image, I thought it would be great to have variant covers to both series' #1s. Thus, in the heat of the moment, and feeling very strongly someone was going to grab this immediately (as it's an awesome cover) I quickly fumbled my fat fingers around to message Kirk and see if it was still available. Luckily enough, no one else had claimed it in the few minutes it took me to decide.

This marks a return of a Segovia piece to my collection as I had a piece or two from some of his early work on Wolverine Origins (I believe) that have since been passed on to other collections. I could not be happier. I do think this is a piece that pops a bit more in person and I was thrilled when I laid my eyes on it with it in my hands. Big thanks to Kirk for an easy transaction as always.

EDIT: So, I don't think this actually got used as a cover for issue 1. It was certainly solicited as such (see additional images when I post them) and is labeled on the art as such, but they ended up using a different piece of his (which, based on its labeling, was originally planned to be a variant for issue 3). So, kind of a weird piece in terms of it being published or not. It was certainly put out by Marvel but not actually put on the book (at least as of writing. They could certainly use it in the future).

EDIT #2: Used as the variant cover to Infernal Hulk #3.
