This was one of my first commissions. Would you believe that Dave kept apologizing for delays caused by his poor health? "I'm checking into the hospital again," he emailed once, "but I hope to get some sketches done while I'm there."

I think my reply contained the phrase "it's only a sketch!" three or four times. Nonetheless, a few months later he sent me an inked and colored piece (colors courtesy of his wife, Paty) instead of the simple con-style sketch I'd paid for.

RIP, DC...

Wow, the detail on the stripes is amazing, and pure Cockrum (The colours are perfect too). A class act, who will be missed.

this one is so awesome, one of the best in your collection. Cockrum's rendition of Tigra when she popped up in a couple of X-Men issues was very memorable, and it's great that you got this done. Lovely coloring by Paty, too.

A really nice piece by a GREAT artist and truly nice person. A few years back I had the privilage to talked to him on the phone during one of his hospital stays. He was obviously not having a good day but he was still very nice to take a few minutes out to say hi. RIP Dave.
