DescriptionStan MacGovern's Silly ran primarily in the New York Post, from 1938 to 1951. The latter few years were spent with a different syndicate. I've always enjoyed MacGovern's bouncy approach, along with his wonderful use of Zipatone. This undated daily is music-related, with lots of jive lingo from the period. Given the mention of Artie Shaw's "Frenesi" in the final panel, I believe this daily to be circa 1940, when the jazz tune was released.Social/Sharing |

An all chicken affair! More relevent to comic arts than ever before! Really great how MacGovern let the jokes free flow and making the reader set their own reading pace.
