Description

Byrne doesn't do con sketches any more...oh, well. But when this piece turned up for sale in a dealer's gallery, I got a sketch for less than what it would have cost me to travel to Mid-Ohio Con.

I actually had passed on this piece a few years earlier. It popped up on eBay, but without a scan...and the seller didn't respond to my emails. Broke my little heart, but there's a limit to how much I'll pay for something sight unseen.

Byrne is another one of those artists who really "gets" how to draw this character. I have some of his published pages but I'm glad to say I have a con sketch by this guy.

WOW! Long time, no see! I actually bought this John Byrne ink pen sketch from him at the Mid-Ohio Con in '88. I was there with Paul Fricke and Scott Beaderstadt (Trollords). I had originally wanted a Wolverine, but Byrne was only doing female characters. I think it cost me around $100. I had to sell on eBay in the early 2000s years later due to financial issures. Really wish I wouldn't have had to sell it, but at least here it is now!! Thanks so much for sharing.
