JLA Year One, Splash, Pencils

I'm a little confused about this piece. I picked it up on E-Bay a few years back when I started collecting and was told it was an unpublished pencil piece by Barry Kitson from the JLA Year One series. But check out the Year One trade and you will see a very familiar image two or three pages in.
