Collectors Choice Catalog

In the Summer of 1977, my father Joseph Parente, and Jim Steranko published the first of two landmark catalogs of Original Comic Art and American Illustration for sale called the Cartoonists and Ilustrators Portfolio. They published a second catalog in the summer of 1978 and my father then went on to publish two more of his own, called the Collectors Choice. You literally will not believe the the scope and breadth of classic comic art and illustration on display in the pages of these catalogs. Moreover you will absolutely not believe the prices these pieces were being sold for. It actually brings tears to my eyes. A few examples; The cover to Silver Surfer #8 for $175, The cover to Conan # 2 for $600, The cover to FF #164 for $45, The Cover to the 1978 Overstreet Price Guide by Bill Ward for $125. All I can say is fire up the Delorean and set the date for 1978 because if you could go back in time and buy everything in these catalogs you would be stinkin' rich!!!
