John Byrne - Original Cover re-interpretation to FANTASTIC FOUR # 39 (Marvel, 2010).
I have always desired a piece of artwork by the great JOHN BYRNE, and I thought long and hard about what sort of artwork would I crave to have in my collection.
Having been a big fan of JB's memorable run on the Fantastic Four, I thought about commissioning John to do a FF piece.
After thinking about it for awhile, I came to a decision that the piece I wanted John to do would be from one of my favourite FF storylines from the sixties. That story involved DAREDEVIL, my favourite comic book hero, stripped of his unique senses, and now totally blind thanks to Doctor Doom!
So here is John's revisit of the classic Jack Kirby cover to Fantastic Four # 39, featuring Daredevil leading the Fantastic Four through the city streets, with the ominous Doom, towering above them.
The artwork is a large-size piece, measuring 18" x 24" inches. This is my first (but certainly not last) piece by the great John Byrne.
A huge thank you to John Byrne for an incredible interpretation of that momentous book and thanks to gentleman Jim Warden for setting this up.
