Sandman Mystery Theatre Issue 22 Page 15 Morpheus Dream sequence Davis Locke

One of my favourites in my collection a simply superb dream page from the Dr Death storyline of Sandman Mystery Theatre, a high level of detail, texture and mood in each panel and significant in the series as not only does Morpheus cameo its Dian’s dream he is entering.
This collaboration between Guy Davis, who did the layouts and Vince Locke, who finished, is the original version of the artwork before the art was scanned and digitally manipulated by Vince, the lot also included a paste up of the individual panel printouts and a letter from Vince explaining the process. Comparing the published version, the print outs and the original art shows how much was lost in the production process, the final page may be dark bleak and moody but the original has far more sharp edged detail, a nightmarish gothic gem!
