Great action shot of Ms. Saunders in action from the Justice Society Returns mini series.

Check out Hawkgirl's mask, Scott, Mark or both give the edge of the mask weight, so you can see there is some degree of protection there. In recent years there's been an effort to make the Hawk's cowls, helmets and one can make an argument for it here.

The interesting aspect of this series was the use of titles DC discontinued decades ago under the Mini-Series The Justice Society Returns umbrella.
