Description
I know this is not Chet Gould or Dick Tracy but it is an interesting precursor t o Tracy

This was done in 1930 a year before Dick Tracy and just as raw and violent- which makes sense as it was written by Jack Lait who got his start as a reporter on the Chicago Hearst paper and Chicago Tribune before moving to New York and ultimately becoming the editor of the New York Mirror. Gus and Gussie at least in this story was a pretty strong depiction of Prohibition era life in a major city. Thanks to Joakim I got a chance to read the story and finally get an accurate ID on the strip!
