Description
Sam Guthrie (a.k.a. Cannonball when he's in his X-Men uniform) is under cover and behind enemy lines squaring off with Presidential Candidate Graydon Creed and his anti-mutant platform o' hate.
Enter said villian, Graydon Creed from behind closed doors and the likes of enforcer goons.
Graydon Creed: Gentlemen please. Give Sam and me a few minutes together.

Sam's inner monologue, sizing up the enemy:
[GRAYDON CREED.
He's a human with a real MAD-ON for mutants--
--Mostly on account of him bein' the SON of two bad-newsers by the names o' SABERTOOTH and MYSTIQUE(X)
If he has his way...
...and the gallup polls say he just MIGHT...
..his secret agenda is t'become President and start STACKIN' DEAD mutants up like CORDS o' wood behind the shed.
It's one thing if you're an X-man, puttin' your life on the line EVERY DAY...
..but there's a whole mess o' REGULAR PEOPLE who'll suffer if Creed's elected.
Could we "OUT" him?
Sure. But it don't seem like much of a SOLUTION--
--fightin' fear and loathin' with more o' the same.
Or as my dad used to say "Ya CAIN'T put out a FIRE with GASOLINE."]
((X) reluctant members of the government-sanctioned team of mutants called X-Factor-biologically correct Bob)

Enforcer Goon, on the left of the door: Of course, Sir.
Sam's thoughts continue:
[So the PLAN is to STAY CLOSE.
LEARN what Ah can.]

Now behind closed doors, Graydon Creed and Sam Guthrie, mano-a-mano.
Graydon Creed, starts: Sam, your timing couldn't be MORE PERFECT.
I have something of a... problem.
I am hoping you could HELP me SOLVE IT.
Sam, playing the lamb in wolves clothing, stares back into the eyes of the alpha wolf: In a situation like this there's a difference between what one thinks and what one says:
[Why don't Ah like the SOUND o' that?]
Ah'll try, Sir.

Signed by Joe Madureira under the right side of the bottom panel. I love that this page was written with Sam's born and bred Kentucky accent.
