This has turned out to be a very interesting Christmas. It was my first Christmas with the lovely Amy and I wanted to get her something special. Early on in our relationship I learned she was a fan of big shoe strips, but not original art . She's become worldly about the hobby though osmosis I imagine, so that made for a perfect set up for this years Christmas present. I had asked for some help early last year when I was thinking about giving her a Berke Breathed Bloom County strip as a birthday present. I held off at that time but went ahead and bit the bullet for Christmas. As for myself Amy told me she would get me a commission for Christmas . I had given her a couple of names. I sent out a couple of emails and one incredible Friday night I got a phone call. The voice on the other end said" Hi Mike, this is Joe Giella...." I was stunned, here I was talking to the guy who inked some of my favorite Silver Age stories. Well we chatted for about 15 minutes. Joe could not have been nicer, that conversation alone would have been a great present. I told him my girlfriend waned to commission me for Christmas and told Joe she would chat with him at some point. After that it was all in her hands, Amy told me that Joe agreed to do a commission and I needed to give her some samples/idea of what I wanted. I printed off three different pages from a DC Archive book and gave it to her and then waited to unwrap the present. So what does it look like? Incredible!!! Enjoy!
